Early days at Pre-school

  • For a young child beginning their first few weeks at Pre-school we aim to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We hope that a stable, friendly environment will encourage them to find their initial independence and self-confidence
  • We encourage parents to come along with their children before the child’s starting date to help them settle. It is a good opportunity for us to get to know you both, as well as letting your child begin the settling-in process, knowing that Mum/Dad is safely nearby. It also enables you to see what activities are available to the children during the session.

What we offer

We offer a wide range of activities including painting, cooking, play-dough, sand and water play, role play, collage, construction toys, pre-writing, pre-maths and pre-science skills, bikes and climbing frames and many more including the use of our own computer.  Through all these activities children will experience having to take turns with others, resolve differences of opinion, group conversation and learning to share and work together.

Your child :

  • Is in a safe and stimulating environment
  • Is given generous care and attention, because of our high ratio of adults to children
  • Has the chance to join with other children and adults to play, work and learn together
  • Is helped to take forward his/her learning and development by being helped to build on what he/she already knows and can do
  • Has the chance to establish the basis of reading and writing through well chosen stories, songs, rhymes and games
  • Is helped to create habits of listening, sharing and concentration and pride in their achievements
  • Has a personal key worker who ensures your child makes satisfying progress
  • Is in a Pre-school that sees you as a partner in helping your child to learn and develop
  • Is in a Pre-school in which parents help to shape the service it offers
